Adobe RIP, New PDF print engine for Prepress

RE: Adobe RIP, New PDF print engine for Prepress

I haven't checked with Esko-Graphics about our SCOPE workflow and what/when is planned there. We are having no problems at all really ripping and trapping PDF. As far as our own PDF creation in-house we have stopped flattening when possible and we are mainly feeding layered PDF, maybe 70% or so. Many of the CPSI RIPs are having problems with the trap engines more than the actual ripping. I'm afraid that those systems like DS Screen trueFlow and rampage will still have problems whether they get PDF Print Engine or not. It's their proprietary aging trap engines that are failing to keep up. In my tests with all kinds of nasty files, all adobe CPSI Rips had mo problems with ripping true to the files, trapping, that was another story. The trapping is what is more likely to be problematic these days as the trapping relates to transparency and slicing/flattening etc.
