First of all, I want to say that this forum is great for desktop-publishers and prepress-managers! I allready love it! Wink
We are a middle-range printer and have 3 print-machines: Printmaster 74, Speedmaster 52 ans Printmaster 46. Our workflow on division DTP is a MetaDimension & Signastation. This are two systems where we have to sit at (so we can't work from at our workstations) when we are making plates or imposition schemes, making plots and send 1-bit TIFF's to CTP. Also Pitstop is found there. And as I read it here, this is not preflight, but only POSTflight. On this department we also make the plates for the presses. This machine is a Screen PF-R1050 CTP with Harlequin RIP, an AGFA output/devellop machine and plate stapler. All of our desktop-publishers (5) are working with QuarkXPress 7.1 and sometimes with InDesign CS2.
This year we're gonna look for a new CTP with thermal plates. We allready have some propositions for new machines. Also it is time to look for a way to implement an ISO-12647-2 standard.
My question is: what type of workflow is interesting for us to implement, or do we not have to change the way we work with MetaDimension + Signastation? I've read about Apogee, Creo, and so on....
