If I understand correctly, you can open up a pdf, ps or eps file in photoshop and it will rasterize the image when it opens. Is this the same as what a hardware or software RIP does? If so couldn't you RIP the image in photoshop and print directly from it? I believe that is how some printers are separating CMYK to output on Hurst Smart Plate polyester plates using an HP5000 laser printer since you can set the line screen, dot shape & frequency in photoshop under "print with preview". If this works it may be a work around solution although it may not be the most efficient. Please educ... - Read More at This Link..
